Overview

About the National Armed Forces Healthcare Training and Education Programme

The Armed Forces community comprises current serving personnel, their families, and military veterans and their families. While many health needs are shared with the wider population, military life can lead to distinct challenges and service attributable conditions. These differences affect access, delivery, and long-term outcomes for the patient and their family.

Under the Armed Forces Covenant legal duty, NHS bodies must give ‘due regard’ to this community’s needs in planning and delivering services. To support this, NHS England and the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA) have launched The National Armed Forces Healthcare Training and Education Programme.
